VOIP SoftphoneVoIP software is used to emulate the functions of a telephone using your computer or Pocket PC. This type of arrangement is known as a softphone. You will need a headset or speakers and microphone as well if your PC/Laptop does not already have them. Alternatively you can get a USB phone that plugs into your PC. Here is a list of some popular VoIP software available today:

Skype Probably the most popular of all softphones. Its available free of charge and has different versions for Windows, Mac, Linux and PocketPC.
Firefly Produced by Freshtel is also free of charge and is based on open-source software released under the GPL license.
EyeBeam eyeBeam is Xten's new VoIP softphone software that replaces their X-PRO and X-Lite offerings for Windows, Mac and Pocket PC.
